Monsanto Company approached Origin to develop a name for a new fungicide.
The fungicide was the culmination of 15 years research at a cost of $150 million for use against "Take All", a previously untreatable wheat disease.
“Take All” is a root disease that cuts wheat yields by 5% on average in Europe and is the most damaging root disease of wheat throughout the world.
The name Latitude was developed by Origin to reflect the wide ranging efficacy of the product as well as being a familiar and recognisable word worldwide.
